Bunk Beds!!!

Early November brought bunk beds for the girls, they were delivered and set up by Grandpa Gary and Uncle Griffin! Morgan has been asking for bunk beds over and over. I am one of 5 girls in my family and growing up we had 3 girls in one room- with a custom-made triple bunk bed. It was made by my grandpa. So my dad was asked to make some for our girls. Plans were being drawn and things were moving forward. Then my mom found these beds for a total steal. Buying the materials would have cost more than purchasing these. It also saved countless hours of man power. The beds are gorgeous.

My dad and Griffin arrived late on a Wednesday night. We kept Carson and Morgan home from school on Thursday and I also moved my preschool class to another day. The preschool room was completely filled with odds and ends from the girls room, while the bunk beds were being made. Amidst the buliding of the beds we had a yummy breakfast, went out to lunch, played and talked together. Our helpers didn't leave until 6:00 at night, and it was so fun to have them here.

First we just put together one set of bunk beds, we were concerned about both fitting in the room. We had a right to be concerned as there is literally less than an inch to spare. So as we were assembling the second set, which is actually set up like a loft bed, we had to lift it way super high to clear the other top bunk and then lower it carefully down.

Another hurdle we had to overcome was that with both beds set up, the middle switch on the triple switch was covered by the beds. The middle switch of course is the light. Thank goodness for my handy dad and brother knowing how to fix things like that. So now the middle switch is the half-hot switch and we don't miss it at all since we never used it in the first place. And if you don't know what a half-hot switch or plug is- you must not have grown up around construction like I did.

Thank you to my sweet parents who gave us these beds as a gift, including two of the three twin mattresses that we needed. Parents are the BEST!
To say the girls love their beds would be a huge understatement. Ryan and I love that the girls each have their own space to sleep. For quite some time Morgan and Cambryn have been sleeping in the same tiny bed. We would often find Cambryn falling half way off the bed, because a certain someone would be pushing her off in her sleep.
